Jabatan Kejuruteraan Elektrik, Politeknik Merlimau Melaka terdiri daripada hasil gabungan penawaran tiga program pengajian iaitu Diploma Kejuruteraan Elektrik, Diploma Kejuruteraan Elektronik (Komunikasi) dan Diploma Kejuruteraan Elektronik (Komputer).

Dip. Kejuruteraan Elektrik
Diploma Kejuruteraan Elektrik direka bentuk untuk meliputi disiplin ilmu kejuruteraan elektrik semasa, dengan pengkhususan tambahan elektronik yang digunakan dalam bidang kejuruteraan elektrik. Asas elektronik yang meliputi bidang kuasa, kawalan, instrumentasi dan komputer memberikan fleksibiliti kepada para graduan, sambil menekankan bidang pengkhususan. Graduan ini dijangka akan berkhidmat dalam bidang kejuruteraan elektrik. Penggunaan peralatan elektrik dan elektronik hari ini memerlukan juruteknik yang mahir dan terlatih yang diperlukan untuk cabaran baharu ini. Diploma Kejuruteraan Elektrik di Politeknik Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia melengkapkan graduannya dengan kemahiran teknikal yang diiktiraf. PROGRAMME AIMS
PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES (PLOS) AND DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION PLO 1: Knowledge: Apply knowledge of applied mathematics, applied science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialisation as specified in DK1 to DK4 respectively to wide practical procedures and practices; PLO 2: Problem analysis: Identify and analyse well-defined engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using codified methods of analysis specific to their field of activity (DK1 to DK4); PLO 3: Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems, components or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations (DK5); PLO 4: Investigation: Conduct investigations of well-defined problems; locate and search relevant codes and catalogues, conduct standard tests and measurements; PLO 5: Modern Tool Usage: Apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools to well- defined engineering problems, with an awareness of the limitations (DK6); PLO 6: The Engineer and Society: Demonstrate knowledge of the societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to engineering technician practice and solutions to well-defined engineering problems (DK7); PLO 7: Environment and Sustainability: Understand and evaluate the sustainability and impact of engineering technician work in the solution of well-defined engineering problems in societal and environmental contexts (DK7); PLO 8: Ethics: Understand and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of technician practice; PLO 9: Individual and Team Work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member in diverse technical teams; PLO 10: Communications: Communicate effectively on well-defined engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, by being able to comprehend the work of others, document their own work, and give and receive clear instructions; PLO 11: Project Management and Finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering management principles and apply them to one’s own work, as a member or leader in a technical team and to manage projects in multidisciplinary environments; PLO 12: Life Long Learning: Recognise the needs for, and have the ability to engage in independent updating in the context of specialised technical knowledge.

PROSPEK KERJAYA Di Sektor Awam, pekerjaan ini terdapat di Jabatan Kerja Raya dan lain jabatan yang berkaitan dengan pembinaan dan bangunan. Disektor swasta pula jawatan ini terdapat di Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Syarikat Telekom (M) Bhd, di kilang-kilang terutama sekali disektor pembuatan, telekomunikasi, kilang, loji dan lain-lain. Mereka boleh menjadi juruperunding bertauliah dan menjadi usahawan sendiri.

Diploma Kejuruteraan Elektronik (Komputer) diwujudkan untuk memenuhi pelbagai disiplin dalam bidang kejuruteraan elektronik dengan penambahan pengkhususan dalam bidang teknologi berasaskan komputer. Di samping memberi penekanan kepada bidang pengkhususan, perkara asas elektronik seperti kuasa, telekomunikasi, kawalan, instrumentasi dan komputer dapat melahirkan graduan yang serba boleh.

PROGRAMME AIMS Graduan Diploma dalam bidang Kejuruteraan Elektronik (Komputer) di Politeknik, Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi Malaysia akan mempunyai pengetahuan, kemahiran teknikal, kemahiran komunikasi dan bersahsiah untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan kemajuan teknologi dan cabaran baru khusus dalam bidang komputer dan elektronik.

Dip. Kejuruteraan Elektronik(Komunikasi)
Diploma Kejuruteraan Elektronik (Komunikasi) adalah satu cabang kejuruteraan yang berkaitan dengan aplikasi praktikal untuk merekabentuk, mengfabrikasi dan pengoperasian litar elektronik, peralatan elektronik, penyiaran dan sistem komunikasi yang beroperasi pada sumber voltan rendah untuk menggerakkannya. Diploma Kejuruteraan Elektronik (Komunikasi) merupakan program sepenuh masa tiga tahun yang terdiri daripada enam semester dengan satu semester latihan industri. Pelajar yang disediakan mempunyai peranan yang besar pada masa hadapan dalam ekonomi dengan membina asas kukuh dalam pengetahuan teknikal dan kemahiran yang diperlukan yang berkaitan dengan bidang kejuruteraan komunikasi elektronik. Program ini direkabentuk dengan asas kejuruteraan elektrik dan elektronik yang merangkumi matematik, asas elektrik dan elektronik, asas komputer dan pengaturcaraan, asas sistem komunikasi, peranti semikonduktor, pemasangan pendawaian dan reka bentuk bantuan komputer yang menyediakan fleksibiliti kepada graduan sambil menekankan bidang pengkhususan ke arah pengkhususan program. Kursus pengkhususan termasuk telefoni, asas komunikasi, komunikasi gentian optik, komunikasi data dan rangkaian, peranti gelombang mikro, komunikasi tanpa wayar dan satellit.
